Colchester is the oldest recorded town in British history and a great day out with the family. You can sample fresh food from Saturday markets, explore a medieval castle, dive into a history lesson in the Natural History Museum, and unwind in a fabulous playground.
Grabbing some fresh snacks at the Saturday market.
The Natural History Museum is very kid friendly and offers numerous hands on experiences for the kids.
The Castle is directly across from the museum and offers a lot within the grounds. We were impressive by the interactive displays taking us through 200 years of British history. The kids were given a special map with activities to complete along the way.
Be sure to save time for the wonderful playground behind the castle. Find a spot in the grass and enjoy some ice cream from the nearby cafe.
Every town needs a great British pub to complete the day. We found the Purple Dog and happily called Colchester a win!
